Promoting Cultural Enrichment
Since 1982 we have served as liaison between
Sausalito's City Council and the local Art Community,
protecting and preserving our art community, culture
enrichment and our town's artistic heritage. Like
a phoenix we are rising to become a more influential
and productive city commission. Learn

The Arts Commission's exhibit
in city Council Chambers will continue soon
The SAC has been sponsoring and curating an exhibit
in City Council Chamber in recent history. We will
be continuing to grace the wall of the space in upcoming
months and are currently accepting application from
artists who wish to participate in this ongoing show.
The prerequisite is that you must be a local artist,
either a resident or have a studio in Sausalito.
We are currently in the process of improving the
space with better lighting and a fresh coat of paint
and installation of hardware to properly hang art
in the area. Read more about the exhibit

Four
New Members are appointed by City Council
The Sausalito Arts Commission has four new appointments
as of January 28, 2008. We have been reforming and
rebuilding the Sausalito Arts Commission since last
year which saw the resignation of over half our members.
Since then the city has taken notice of our plight
and have been cooperative in our effort to reduce
turnover and to make us a more influential force
in Sausalito. Our

The Sausalito Arts Commission
will be sponsoring a local art show at Amgen Tour
of California in 2009.
The Art Commission was approached this year about
bringing a presence of local art to this extremely
popular bike race. With tens of thousand of visitor
descending on Sausalito for the event, it is an opportunity
for the City to highlight everything that is Sausalito.
The list leg of the race begins in town and there
is a gala, silent auction and a weekend of festivities
that will take place in concert with the beginning
of the race. We met with the "TOC" Committee
this year and have agreed to be instrumental in showcasing
local art at the event. More information

Stewardship
of our Public Art
The Sausalito Arts
Commission are the champions of our local artistic
heritage by protecting and preserving our public
art. This is recently evidenced by our finally
realizing our five year mission to restore and
re-site the Sergio Castillo-Mandiola sculpture
Hermandad. This wonderful work of art was a gift
of goodwill from a native of our former "Sister
City" of Vina Del Mar Chile. More

How can you be instrumental in protecting our public
art and promoting our local art community>>
We need your
Help!
Supporting our local art community and preserving
our public art unfortunately is an easy endeavor.
It takes a monumental amount of team effort from
our community as well as financial contributions.
We need your assistance to ensure we may continue
to accomplish our mission. We have a number of projects
which we need your assistance help to accomplish.
With shortfalls in city budgets, funds that normally
would be allocated towards endeavors to enhance culture
in communities statewide, have taken a back seat
to essential emergency services.
Do
you feel the same sense urgency to enrich and preserve
our local culture? >>
